Former star Australian Rules football player Phil Krakouer played for the North Melbourne ‘Kangaroos’ Football Club in the 1980s. With his brother Jim, the 2 were known for their speed, kicking skills and an uncanny ability to know where each other was on the field, often teaming up to move the ball swiftly through the opposition.

The brothers were an immediate sensation when they joined the ‘Roos with Phil topping the goal kicking 3 times: in 1983, 1985 and 1987. He went on to play 141 games for North Melbourne, kicking 224 goals for the club.

Unfortunately, the brothers were parted on the field at the end of the 1989 season. Jim went to St Kilda Football Club and Phil to Footscray. Without their on-field connection they weren’t quite as devastating with the ball.
