Copyright Information Request

The NFSA is constantly researching the identity, provenance and copyright status of items in the national collection which can be searched via the NFSA website.

Takedown request

The NFSA respects the intellectual property rights and moral and cultural rights in the works under our care and custodianship, and administers these works according to the Copyright Act 1968. The NFSA also takes care to publish content with due respect to the integrity of the original work.

We make works available on our website and social media platforms as a result of:

  • having received permission from the copyright owner,
  • the work being in the public domain or
  • the use being available under an exception in the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).

The NFSA will in its absolute discretion consider requests for the removal of content on the website; however the NFSA does not guarantee that such requests will be accepted.

 

Online community standard guidelines

The NFSA encourages the public to engage with its collection across a variety of third-party social media platforms. We want our followers to comment, and share their opinions and ideas, but we also aim to maintain a respectful environment, free of harassment.

We reserve the right to edit and/or remove contributions in accordance to the following guidelines, if the NFSA considers that the content:

  • Is defamatory, abusive, threatening, offensive, obscene, racist, homophobic, sexist or otherwise objectionable;
  • Is false or misleading;
  • Violates any laws including laws regarding harassment, discrimination, racial vilification, privacy or contempt;
  • Infringes intellectual property rights;
  • Is spam, or promotes commercial products or services.

The NFSA may also block accounts which breach the guidelines. In addition to observing these guidelines, users must also consider the terms and conditions specified by third-party platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, etc.

Legal notices for Digital Learning websites

Permitted educational use

When you access Digital Learning websites you agree that:

  • You will retrieve materials for information only.
  • You will save, copy, print, distribute or download for your own personal use or for non-commercial educational purposes only. Commercial exploitation of materials on these websites is prohibited.
  • The NFSA’s permission must be sought to amend any information in the materials, unless otherwise stated in notices throughout the Digital Learning website.

The Digital Learning websites are legacy websites and contain some Screen Australia logos and links that cannot be updated. All Digital Learning websites (except the one listed below) are now owned by the NFSA and are governed by this legal notice. Copyright enquiries about the Digital Learning websites should be directed to the NFSA.
