The Dressmaker Costume Exhibition on Tour
'Behind-the-seams' around the country
Following a hugely successful run in Canberra in 2019, the NFSA took The Dressmaker Costume Exhibition on the road.
Our first stop was the Tamworth Regional Gallery in NSW, from 22 May until 25 July 2021, followed by the Horsham Regional Art Gallery in Victoria, from 30 October 2021 until 16 January 2022.
The Dressmaker Costume Exhibition was then on display at the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum and Gallery in NSW from 19 February 2022 until 29 May 2022.
Please note: The Dressmaker Costume Exhibition is no longer available for touring.

About the exhibition
The Dressmaker Costume Exhibition featured a selection of haute couture costumes created by the film's lead costume designer, and curator of this exhibition, Marion Boyce.
The exhibition celebrated the artistry of the film’s sumptuous designs, as well as the transformational power of fashion. Audiences could go ‘behind the seams’ of a diverse range of elegant vintage designs worn by Kate Winslet, Sarah Snook, Hugo Weaving, Liam Hemsworth, Rebecca Gibney and the rest of the cast:

About The Dressmaker
Welcome to 1950s Dungatar, where the Aussie outback and high-end fashion are about to collide.
Based on the novel by Rosalie Ham, The Dressmaker was brought to life on film by an extraordinary creative team of Australian talents: directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse, produced by Sue Maslin and featuring an all-star cast and stellar crew.
When Paris-trained fashion designer Tilly Dunnage (Kate Winslet) returns to her sleepy hometown after 25 years, she sets about transforming the townspeople through haute couture. Soon life in Dungatar will never be the same. There will be revenge, love, tragedy and finally, justice.
About Marion Boyce
Marion Boyce is an award-winning designer, exhibition curator and vintage specialist who has worked across film and television in Australia and overseas.
She was nominated for an Emmy and Costume Designers Guild Award for The Starter Wife (2007), as well as winning the AACTA Award for Best Costume Design in Television for Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (2013).
The Dressmaker also earned Boyce multiple awards including Best Costume Design at the 2015 AACTA Awards.
