Join us for a very musical month this May at Arc Cinema!

We are proud to host Eyes and Ears as part of the Canberra International Music Festival. In Arc, experience East Timor through the stunning audiovisual performance of Martin Wesley-Smith, while in the Theatrette Alice Giles recounts her journey to Antarctica with a harp and stunning visual imagery.

Get your best all-white outfit ready to join us for the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 and cheer Aussie entrant Sheldon Riley on! Plus witness the journey of Australia’s ‘Queen of Honky Tonk’ in I’m Wanita (2021), as she works to fulfil her childhood dream of stardom and recording in Nashville.

This year for National Reconciliation Week, we are screening 2 documentaries that speak to the theme of Be Brave and Make Change. First, Wash My Soul in the River’s Flow (2021) is a beautiful cinematic presentation of a legendary concert by First Nations performers Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter. Then The Lake of Scars (2022) looks at the contribution to reconciliation of a farmer and members of the Yung Balug clan on Dja Dja Wurrung country in Victoria.

Wednesday 18 May is International Museum Day, a celebration of the wonders that museums have to offer and the NFSA will be opening the doors to our Australians & Hollywood exhibition for extended hours until 8pm! For the entire day, entry to the exhibit will be whatever you wish to pay, but make sure you book ahead so you don’t miss out!

This Mother’s Day, join us for Gillian Armstrong’s version of Little Women (1994), with tickets including access to the Australians & Hollywood exhibition, plus The Curators Café is offering a high tea before the screening. Don’t forget to gasp, cheer and make as much noise as you want for the Arc Out Loud screening of the twisted and much-loved Return to Oz (1985).

Finally, please help us keep everyone safe by reading and following our COVID-safety and visitor information and don’t forget to get your Club NFSA card when you arrive.
