The surface on which motion pictures are projected.

Motion picture film needs to be projected at the correct brightness to ensure the image represents the film maker’s intentions. Luminance levels have been standardised by the SMPTE.

Screens can be perforated to allow loudspeakers to be placed behind the screen.

The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia acknowledges Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live and gives respect to their Elders both past and present.
