Home of the Blizzard Teachers' Guide

Resource for An Antarctic Adventure

This Teachers' Guide accompanies Home of the Blizzard: An Antarctic Adventure, a digital interactive game developed by the NFSA using historic footage of Douglas Mawson's Antarctic Expedition of 1911 to 1914.

Designed for teachers and students playing the online game, it includes information about the making of the interactive, the history of Antarctic exploration, facts about the Antarctic environment, curriculum links and suggested classroom activities.

The Home of the Blizzard interactive has been user tested with primary school groups and their teachers and was Highly Commended in the category of Best Digital Learning Experience at the 2022 Museums Australasia Multimedia and Publication Design Awards.

The best thing was, I was developing my learning throughout the expedition.
