Filmed in Sydney during the First World War, this clip shows a Red Cross bazaar held in Martin Place to raise money for the troops at Gallipoli.

This clip shows the on board activities of some of the troops about to depart Sydney to fight in the First World War. It begins with many of them relaxing on deck.

On a damp Sydney morning, during the First World War, lines of Australian cavalry and infantry march down to the docks while others arrive by tram.

Two Anzac recruits pose for the camera, holding out their sleeves with armbands which read ‘Anzac recruits’. Another recruit puts money in the donation box.

Australian long boats reach the beach at Gallipoli, early in the morning on 25 April 1915. Hundreds of men storm ashore under heavy fire from rifle and artillery.

Having said goodbye to his family, Will (Guy Hastings) marches out with his unit to board a transport ship. As his ship sails, he reads his farewell letters.

Will (Guy Hastings) joins his friends in Martin Place, Sydney, for a drink. They discuss the war while drinking and Will urges them to join up.

Will Brown (Guy Hastings) has joined up. He realises it is time to put away the things of his sporting youth. He picks up his rifle and heads off to training camp.
